Marie Oteiza of France took 10th place at the European Modern Pentathlon Championships on Sunday in Bath (England), a result which ensures her place for the next Olympics in Tokyo in the summer of 2020.

The title went to Lithuanian Laura Asadauskaite, Olympic champion in London in 2012, ahead of British Kate French and Belarusian Iryna Prasiantova.

Reigning European Champion and World No.2, Oteiza (25) will play her first Olympics in August 2020 in Tokyo, thanks to her 10th place on Sunday.

Rio Olympic vice-champion Elodie Clouvel had a perfect start to the day with the fastest time on the 200m freestyle and the second fencing performance.

In the lead after these two events, however, she achieved 0 riding, with four refusals, fatal for his hopes of title and qualification for Tokyo.

Appointment is made in early September for the World Championships in Budapest (Hungary), which will distribute three new places for Japan.

Each nation can send a maximum of two athletes to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. The World-2020s at the end of May in Xiamen (China) will also deliver three places, as well as the qualifying Olympic ranking at May 31, 2020, which offers six places.

A country with more than two qualified athletes will be able to choose its two representatives for Tokyo.
