Umeå parachute club has been struggling for a few years to get the economy together. After the July 14 plane crash, the situation is tougher than ever.

The club had a well-booked season ahead. Many tandem jumps were booked. After the accident, the club has chosen to cancel everything.

- We live a lot on jumping tandem. Then we get money into the club to carry out our jumping. We had one of the best booking situations ever, says the club's chief instructor Johan Hellström, who points out that the club has a completely different focus at the moment:

- Right now, I feel that all energy must go to the relatives and the grief work. That's the only thing that's interesting right now, ”says Johan Hellström.

There is great support

Many have nevertheless contacted the club and wanted to help with money. There is great support, not least from other parachute clubs in the country.

- The whole of Hope Sweden has ended up behind. Private companies, organizations and others are wondering how to help, says Hellström.

Per-Olov Humla, who is chairman of the Swedish Parachute Association, works for and hopes that the club will continue its operations.

- We need a new airplane for example. My greatest hope is that with unified forces we will be helped to save the business, he says.

The insurance issue not solved

A new aircraft of the same model as the crash cost several million SEK. Whether the club gets something out of the aircraft's insurance is still unclear.

According to Per-Olov Humla, the insurance company expects to have the cause of the accident clarified. In other words, they await the report of the Accident Investigation Board. It can take up to a year.

But there is nothing that worries chief instructor Johan Hellström at this time.

- We have to say goodbye to our friends one last time before we start to think about the future.
