Rosatom employees who died in the incident in the Arkhangelsk Region will be presented for awards. This was stated by Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF) Valentin Kostyukov during a television appearance on the air of the Channel-16 shopping mall.

“The death of employees is a bitter loss for the entire nuclear center and Rosatom State Corporation. Testers are national heroes. These people were the elite of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center and sometimes tested in the most incredibly difficult conditions, ”Kostyukov said.

Recall, on August 8, an emergency occurred in a military unit near the city of Severodvinsk in the Arkhangelsk Region with a fire and subsequent explosion. The Ministry of Defense said the incident occurred during tests of a jet liquid propulsion system.

Later, Rosatom clarified that the tests took place on an offshore platform and that five people were killed in an unforeseen situation. All of them were employees of the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics, located in the city of Sarov.

The company noted that immediately after the incident, there was a chance that one of the test participants survived.

“The search continued until there was hope to find survivors. Only after that, the deaths of five Rosatom employees who were involved in work related to a radioisotope power source that was part of the rocket were announced, ”RIA Novosti quoted the company as saying.

A Rosatom report noted that the families of the victims will be provided with financial support, both one-time and long-term.

The leadership of the scientific institute in Sarov, from which dead specialists were sent to the Arkhangelsk region, revealed details of the planned support. Families will receive a lump sum of 120 salaries for deceased employees. Children in these families will receive the average income of the deceased breadwinners until they reach adulthood.

In addition, it is planned to perpetuate the memory of the dead researchers by erecting a monument to them in Sarov.

“Of course, you cannot solve the pain of loss by material issues alone. We must do everything so that people remain in our memory as heroes. We submitted to Rosatom, Rosatom submitted documents to the Presidential Administration to reward them. Here, as part of the enterprise, together with the city administration, it was decided that in a year we would solemnly open the monument to the testers, ”said the head of the RFNC-VNIIEF Kostyukov.

The names of the dead

Rosatom also published a list of names of employees who died during the incident near Arkhangelsk. Among them were Alexey Vyushin, Evgeny Korataev, Vyacheslav Lipshev, Sergey Pichugin, Vladislav Yanovsky.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the data of Rosatom, Andrei Vyushin came to work at the RFNC-VNIIEF in 1998 after graduating from Ivanovo State Energy University.

He was engaged in the development of special equipment and software, participated in work on equipment for experiments at the Large Hadron Collider.

“Colleagues knew that he had two passions - family and work. Going to the training ground, he always said: “I want to be useful to Russia,” the message said.

In turn, 50-year-old Evgeny Korataev served as the leading electronics engineer of the department. The company called him a qualified and proactive employee who knows how to organize work, manage the team and competently solve tasks.

The head of the research and testing group, 40-year-old Vyacheslav Lipshev, was engaged in measurement techniques and conducted unique work on the preparation of special equipment.

“He showed excellent knowledge and organizational skills, and a year ago he was appointed head of the test group,” they told Rosatom.

First-category test engineer Sergei Pichugin, 46, was one of the experienced specialists in the installation and commissioning of test equipment, the company said.

“He could cope with any assigned work, of those people whom I call Russian craftsmen,” the report said.

71-year-old Vladislav Yanovsky worked in the center for 47 years and was one of his most experienced specialists. He was the deputy head of the research and testing department - the head of the research and testing department.
