"I'm fine": Senior from NRW celebrated its 113th birthday

Weather (dpa) - She needs a little more rest than before, but on Saturday, for once, a lot was going on at Mathilde Mange: With cake, flowers and guests she celebrated her 113th birthday in a retirement home in Wetter an der Ruhr.

"I'm fine. And today I can be really happy, »said Mange of the German Press Agency on Saturday. She was grateful for her long life: "It's so nice that I can still be there." She is happy about the numerous visitors and well-wishers. Mathilde Mange was a housekeeper. The mother of two is also grandma, great-grandmother and ururoma.
Her granddaughter Angela Haering (55) said that on Saturday morning, a singer of her grandmother recited some of her favorite songs - and the birthday child sang along. "We are very, very happy that she is still here. 113 years - that's awesome, "said Haering.
Mathilde Mange was born in 1906, confirmed weather Mayor Frank Hasenberg (SPD) of the dpa. "She is a very magical woman. You can only take the hat off to what she has already experienced, "said Hasenberg, who had personally congratulated the anniversary lady in the morning.
Mange grew up in Hunsrück. With her husband, who did not return from the Second World War, she lived in Aachen. Later, Mange lived for a long time with her daughter near Hagen. Only a little over a year ago she moved to the retirement home. "But she's still fit," her granddaughter said.
