Three employees of the Mint of Mexico, including the security guard, were interrogated in order to clarify the facts.

The robbery grabbed attention in social networks because of the similarities with the television series 'La casa de papel' , a Spanish production in which a robbery is reported to the National Mint and Doorbell Factory.

It is not the first time that Mexican institution under the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit suffers an assault.

In July 2018, during the remodeling of the Mexican Mint, the building was docked by at least four men who took old silver and gold coins with an estimated value, according to some media, of about 3 million pesos ( about 153,000 dollars).

The first assault dates back to 1739, when there was a large theft of silver in the Royal Mint of Mexico.

The Mint of Mexico is a decentralized body of the federal government and is responsible for minting and marketing the country's coins and medals, through processes that meet quality standards, for the Bank of Mexico and for public and private institutions , National and international.

The agency currently has three stores, the matrix being the one located on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City. The other two are in the central state of San Luis Potosí, where it also has its plant.
