US President Donald Trump says the United States is in a difficult position because of ties between the two allies over deepening conflicts between South Korea and Japan.

President Trump met with reporters at the White House today (Sunday) and said South Korea and Japan should be allies in the question of the Korea-Japan Military Information Security Agreement, saying that they are in a very difficult position in relation to the current situation.

"Korea and Japan are arguing all the time," he expressed concern, saying, "It's because they put us in a very bad position.

"I am worried about the tension between Korea and Japan," he said.

In response to Japan's second round of economic retaliation, the government is carefully considering whether to renew the ROK-Japan military information security agreement, the only military agreement between the two countries.

The deadline for extending the agreement is 24 days.
