The Sami skulls are to be carried in short to Gammplatsen in Lycksele. The ceremony is open to all and for many it is a symbolically important event.

Mikael Jakobsson at the Lycksele joint association hopes that the reburial will be a guide in the future and that it will take place in more places throughout Sápmi.

Several people will speak during the ceremony, including Paulus Kuoljok, chairman of the Sami Parliament, Katherine Hauptman, director of the History Museum, Helene Öberg (MP), State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, and Jonathan Kenna, Australia's ambassador to Sweden.

SVT will broadcast the reburial on our site from 1pm
