David Benioff and Dan Weiss, creators of the TV series "Game of Thrones", have signed an agreement with Netflix video-on-demand platform for writing and making new works, announced Wednesday.

"We are delighted to welcome storytellers such as David Benioff and Dan Weiss to Netflix," said Ted Sarandos, head of content for the platform.

"They are a creative force and have entertained audiences around the world with their epic stories, and we can not wait to see what their imagination will bring to our subscribers," he continued.

"We had a great adventure with HBO for over a decade and we are grateful to everyone there for making us feel at home," said the two creators of the GoT series. .

But "Netflix has built something amazing and unheard of, and we are honored that they have invited us to join them," they write.

"We remember the same scenes from the movies of the 1980s, we love the same books, we are passionate about the same opportunities to tell stories," added Benioff and Weiss about the discussions they had with Ted Sarandos and his team.

Netflix did not want to disclose the amount of the agreement, which spans several years and concerns both series and movies, without further clarification at this stage.

According to the specialized Deadline, the check signed by Netflix to debauch the two stars of writing, also courted by Disney and Amazon, would be nine digits.

The May broadcast of the last episode of the eighth season of "Game of Thrones" broke the HBO audience record with 19.3 million viewers, which did not stop many fans of the medieval-fantastic series denounce a sloppy season. A petition asking for a remake of the final season with "skilled writers" had even been launched and has collected to date more than 1.7 million signatures.

"Game of Thrones", however, broke all records at the prestigious Emmy Awards, and is back in the running this year 32 times, never seen before.

Alongside Netflix, David Benioff and Dan Weiss are involved with Disney in a new series of episodes of the saga "Star Wars", films whose release date and number are still unknown.
