Rome (AP) - The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte does not want to drift in the government crisis of his Interior Minister Matteo Salvini. It was not up to an interior minister to decide on the course of a political crisis in which very different institutional actors intervened, Conte said in a speech in Rome. He announced that he would contact the presidents of the two chambers of parliament to convene the chambers. He called on Salvini to explain in the Senate why he was interrupting "early, abruptly" the actions of the government.
