After the departure of Florent Ibenge at the head of the Leopards, it is now the national technical director Christian N'sengi-Biembe who will ensure the transition for at least six months according to the president of the Fecofa, Constant Omari, joined by RFI.

Florent Ibenge left his coaching job in the DRC on Wednesday (August 7th) after an interview with the president of the Congolese Football Association, Constant Omari. Joined by RFI this Thursday, August 8, Constant Omari explains the departure of Florent Ibenge and announces the following for the Leopards.

" After five years at the head of the Leopards, Florent Ibenge felt he had to focus solely on the AS Vita club, " said Constant Omari. "I respect his choice. After five years, it was normal for things to change, "he adds.

" Our model has been followed in several African countries "

From now on, the DRC must find a new coach. But it is obviously no longer abroad that the country intends to find the successor of Florent Ibenge.

" By naming Ibenge we have been precursors," says Constant Omari. Our model has been followed in several African countries. I think local coaches do better by knowing the psychology and culture of the country . The Federation therefore decided to focus on continuity and asked the national technical director Christian N'sengi-Biembe to ensure the transition for about 6 months.

Then, there will be an evaluation and the Federation will launch a call for applications if " the results are not conclusive ". Yet names of foreign breeders were already beginning to circulate. " For the moment, we are going to favor national values ," says Constant Omari.

As for Florent Ibenge, he could be incorporated into the national technical team to share his experience.
