An explosion occurred at a military training ground in the Arkhangelsk region. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The department noted that the incident occurred during a test of a liquid engine. As a result of the emergency, six people were injured. Two died from injuries.

The state of emergency occurred 30 kilometers from the city of Severodvinsk, RIA Novosti notes.

“When testing a liquid propulsion system, an explosion occurred and the product ignited. As a result of the accident, six representatives of the Ministry of Defense and a developer enterprise received injuries of varying severity. Two specialists died from their wounds, ”the Defense Ministry said.

Doctors have already been transferred to the training ground using aviation. “A helicopter flies with two medical teams towards Nenoksa,” RIA Novosti was told in the city hospital of Arkhangelsk.

The military department stressed that the incident did not affect the environment.

“There were no emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere, the radiation background is normal,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The administration of Severodvinsk specified that short-term fluctuations in the radiation background were recorded, but the situation soon returned to normal.

“At 11:50 on August 8, the sensors of ASKRO (automated system for monitoring the radiation situation. - RT ) in Severodvinsk recorded a short-term increase in the radiation background. Currently, the background has returned to normal, ”the city’s website said in a statement.

The governor of the Arkhangelsk region Igor Orlov said that evacuation of the population would not be required. “No, there’s nothing like that, and we don’t have such data,” he told TASS, answering a question about the possible evacuation of residents.

Nevertheless, employees of Severodvinsk institutions were automatically sent recommendations not to leave the premises.

“There is a certain order. When the radiological observation sensors are triggered, a telephone message is automatically sent to the city institutions. In it, in particular, recommendations are made: to close windows, windows, and if possible not to leave the premises. This is always done before the data analysis, ”Interfax was explained in the city administration.

In connection with the emergency, a meeting of the regional emergency commission will be held in Arkhangelsk in the near future, said Alexander Uvarov, head of the state fire service and civil protection agency of the Arkhangelsk region, to TASS.

The governor of the region will take part in the meeting. For the sake of the meeting, he interrupted a working trip and flew to the training ground, reports TASS.

Previous incidents

On Monday, August 5, an explosion occurred at an artillery ammunition depot in the city of Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory. It was reported that the fragments from the explosion scattered within a radius of 15 km from the scene. In this regard, settlements within a radius of 20 km from the landfill were evacuated, a total of 16 thousand people were removed.

To extinguish the fire, two fire trains and two multifunctional robotic systems “Uran-14” were involved. Ten IL-76 aircraft and five Mi-8 helicopters also took part in the aftermath of the emergency.

On June 19, the Ministry of Defense reported a fire at the Seltsi training ground in the Ryazan Region.

“In the course of conducting scheduled exercises on fire training at the Seltsi training ground in the Ryazan region, dry grass ignited. In hot weather, fire spread to a nearby forest area, ”the ministry said.

The staff of the garrison were involved in the liquidation; there was no threat of the spread of fire to settlements. There were no casualties during the fire, the agency said.

On June 14, it became known about the burning of dry grass at the Pogonovo training ground in the Voronezh region.

“In the Voronezh region, grass fell on a plot of land adjacent to the Pogonovo training ground, and the fire spread to the training ground,” the Defense Ministry said.

The fire was quickly localized by regular fire brigades and the Ministry of Emergency Situations calculations and was soon eliminated, while material damage to the landfill facilities was not caused, the ministry said. According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the fire area was 3 ha.
