During Wednesday afternoon, Anticimex received an alarm that several wasps drowned in several plastic containers filled with waste from a candy company in Brunnsberg in Varberg. Anticimex noted that it was not about wasps, but about bees and contacted Varberg's co-supervisor, Strebe Milenkovski.

- When I got to the place, I thought this is a disaster. I have never seen anything like it and I've seen lots of dead bees, ”says Strebe Milenkovski, deputy supervisor in Varberg.

Evil spiral

What Strebe saw was a large mud of dead, messy and desperate bees trying to get out of the sweet crib inside the plastic container. The bees probably had gone there in the search for food.

- Where they find sweets where they fly. Then traffic is formed between the hut and the dining place, as they tip each other. The problem is that the bees can't fly when they get the mourning on their wings, so they drown. Then more people will try, and a vicious circle will be formed, says Strebe Milenkovski.

What did you think when you saw it?

- Have not the beekeepers noticed that there are bees in their hives? Apparently, the company was unaware of what had happened, but storing sugar solution like this feels irresponsible, says Strebe.

SVT News Halland has been in contact with Lennart Arvidsson as spokesperson for the candy company Koppers Candy Sweden.

- There have been plastic containers outside with something in which there was sugar. There have been lids on them, so someone has been there and ripped them off. Tonight we put the lids back on them then we will have a closer look this morning, says Lennart Arvidsson.

"It was impossible to save them"

In the afternoon, Strebe remained at the scene to try to save the bees that were still alive.

- I picked them up with a glove and put them in a box, where they should lie down and calm down. But in the end it became impossible. There were too many, he says.
