"Negotiations that took place in the Turkish Ministry of Defense on August 5-7 with the US military representatives regarding the planned security zone in northern Syria in coordination with the US have been completed," the report said.

Earlier, Turkish Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar said that negotiations with the United States were successful.

In early August, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara intends to soon carry out an operation against militants in Syrian territory on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.

Pentagon chief Mark Esper said the US is opposed to “any unilateral Turkish invasion” of northern Syria.
