The Chosun Central News Agency said yesterday that Kim Jong-un witnessed the launch of a power demonstration of a new tactical grenade conducted at the western airfield early morning.

It appears to have fired a North Korean version of the Iskander class missile.

The news agency says two tactical grenades fly over the metropolitan area and over North Korea's central inland zone to precisely hit the target islands of the East Sea.

Kim said the launch was satisfactory and that it would be an opportunity to send warnings against ROK-US joint military exercises.

Yesterday, the Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated his opposition to ROK-US combined training.

North Korea stressed that the reliability, safety and ability of the new tactical guided weapons system were undoubtedly verified.

Kim also took a commemorative photo with a scientist and concluded that he actually completed the testing phase of the weapons he has developed.

The North said it will deploy a new weapons system after launching an Iskander-class missile on Tuesday.

At the launch site, not only Park Byung-cheon, Artillery Director and General Director Young-gil Lee, but also unusually nine party leaders including Park Bong-ju, Lee Man-gun, Park Kwang-ho, and Lee Su-yong attended.
