A 29-year-old man died Tuesday night after jumping from one of the silos of an old disused cement factory in San Vicente del Raspeig (Alicante) when he intended to record the jump for his YouTube channel .
As reported by sources close to the case, the victim had a channel on the Internet platform with only six subscribers and the same was dedicated to risk sports, especially " bungee jumping ", as well as practices and parachute flights and paragliding. In this way, he intended to film the jump in the middle of the night after entering the cement site , which is located between the municipalities of Alicante and San Vicente del Raspeig.
According to sources confirmed by the National Police, the man jumped at 00:55 hours with a parachute from a height of 50 meters but something failed in the device, which was not fully open. As a result, he rushed to the ground, dying instantly .
The accident victim was accompanied by a friend who did not jump and who was the one who gave the alarm . The local police, the National Police, the Civil Guard and a unit of the Urgent Health Care Service (SAMU) that could only confirm the death went to the area.
The investigation of the accident and its causes is the responsibility of the National Police. The sources consulted have not yet specified how the two paratroopers accessed the interior of the facilities.
