The creator of '8chan', the internet forum where some of the authors of mass shootings such as this weekend in the US have been radicalized, has demanded to close the page in an interview published by the newspaper 'The New York Times' .

"Close the page. It's not doing the world any good . It's totally negative for everyone except its users. And you know what? It's bad for them too. They don't realize it," said Frederick Brennan , 25, resident in the Philippines.

The creator of '8chan', a darker version of 4chan , with multiple users who moved there after being expelled from the previous portal, said that every time he hears something about a shooting he rushes to investigate if it has anything to do with the website that launched and with which no longer has any relationship.

"Every time I hear something about a mass shooting, I say, 'OK, we have to investigate if there is a connection with' 8chan," he says. Brennan has described himself as a "naive and ignorant", while comparing '8chan' with Frankenstein's monster, without limits on his extremism, according to Reuters and Europa Press.

'8chan' emerged in 2013 as an internet forum that aspired to be the "utopia of freedom of expression", but in recent months it has become a focus of attraction for extremists , with several shootings - like Christchurch's New Zealand or Poway (California) in April - announced in advance on the website.

It is also the case of the Saturday massacre in El Paso, where 21-year-old Patrick Crusius killed 22 people after hanging a white supremacist manifesto on the website , where he focused on the Hispanic communities living in this city from the state of Texas.

'8chan' is known for its contents that promote conspiracy theories or the so- called "incels" - involuntary cells - who say they have no sexual relations with women because of them.

Brennan, in a wheelchair due to illness, stopped working on the website last year, after passing the witness to an American Navy veteran, Jim Watkins , who runs the forum with his son.

"I've tried to understand why he goes on with it so many times and I can't. After Christchurch, after the shooting of the Tree of Life, and now after this shooting. They think it's very funny, " criticizes Brennan of the new direction.

He warns that the closure " will not completely stop this kind of event from happening , but it would not happen every couple of months."

One of the companies that serve '8chan', Cloudfare, announced Friday that it severed ties completely with those forums , due to the perception of the website as an environment of violent extremism that ignored complaints about content on its platform , unlike other networks such as Facebook or Twitter.
