The Foreign Ministry of China appreciated the bill of India on the abolition of the status of Kashmir
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying commented on India’s decision to abolish the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Chinese side expresses extreme concern about the current situation in Kashmir ... The parties involved must remain restrained, be careful in their actions, in particular, to avoid unilateral changes in the status quo and escalating the situation,” the statement reads on the Foreign Ministry website. China also called on the Indian and Pakistani sides through dialogue and consultations to resolve the dispute and protect peace and stability in the region.
Earlier, the Indian Council of States passed a bill providing for the abolition of the special status of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is enshrined in the Constitution.
On August 5, troops were put on high alert in India after a bill was submitted to parliament to abolish Kashmir’s special status.
