The acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has raised the possibility of decentralizing government institutions and moving them from Madrid to other provinces in the interior of Spain as a measure to stop the depopulation of these areas.

Sanchez has moved this measure to representatives of organizations in the field of depopulation and demographic challenge during a meeting held on Tuesday in Madrid in the round of consultations that Sánchez is developing to develop a government proposal.

Specifically, as reported by Europa Press Ferniendo Arévalo , spokesperson for the Soria Ya Platform , the acting president has not specified which institutions could relocate to other cities, but he has mentioned provincial capitals as a possibility to help curb the depopulation and labor reactivate areas of the interior of Spain.

"It has called our attention and we have liked this possible measure, with which the civil servant would contribute by contributing a grain of sand to make other cities that are not always the same more attractive," explained the representative of the Soria Platform the meeting with Sánchez in which the former high Commissioner of the Government has also been present in front of the Demographic Challenge and Secretary of Public Function of the PSOE, Isaura Leal .

"Change the chip"

In addition, according to the organizations present at the meeting, which was held after the acting president received representatives of the educational community, Sánchez has described as a "mistake" the radial design of infrastructure in Spain instead of focusing on the network with a "mesh" system.

The groups that have attended the meeting also point out that Sánchez is committed to "taking note" of his requests and addressing these "multisectoral" problems with different ministers of his acting government. "You have to change the chip," said the president, always according to attendees, referring to the demographic challenges of Spain.

"The president's commitment has been to take into account the rural environment as a transversal axis of all the policies of his government," said the president of the Abraza la Tierra Foundation , María del Mar Martín , when leaving the meeting.

For his part, Martín has transferred the acting president who "listens to the rural environment", which he has described as the "little brother" of government policies. "We feel this way because whenever measures are put in place, they don't reach us and stay on the road," he complained.
