06 August 201916.16 The African-American writer Toni Morrison died at the age of 88. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1993. Born in Ohio in a black working-class family, he soon showed great interest in literature. He made his debut in 1970 with "L'occhio più azzurro" and taught in prestigious universities. Engaged in recounting battles for civil rights, he is considered one of the greatest representatives of African American fiction. He enters the Academy of Arts and Letters and in 1988 with "Amatissima" gets the Pulitzer.
