Dubai Municipality has committed all the drinking water and ice plants in the Emirate to inspect its bottled water every two months at a laboratory accredited by the Emirates International Accreditation Center.

In a recent circular to the Food Safety Department in Dubai, the Municipality said that it is continuing inspections of these factories to ensure compliance with legislation and sanitary conditions. In view of the importance of drinking water and snow testing to ensure the safety of products, The presence of iron, phosphates, magnesium, zinc, copper, chlorine, nitrates, and sulphates, as well as the absence of color, taste or smell of water, and that the factories review the results to ensure the safety of water and snow.

It also stressed that factories should take corrective measures in case the results do not conform to the specifications, while committing them not to distribute water or ice, to ensure that they comply with the specifications of bottled drinking water or the specifications of ice prepared for human consumption.

The Municipality stressed that bottled water for drinking must be completely free of algae, insects or eggs, fungi, larvae, vesicles, and amypia.

The municipality confirmed that its inspectors carry out periodic campaigns in drinking water plants to ensure compliance with the conditions of packing for drinking water, pointing out that all packages of water must bear the name and addresses of the company, which can be seen and read by consumers.

The UAE system for drinking water control approved by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) gives the competent authorities the right to take representative samples of bottled water for the tests it deems fit to demonstrate their conformity with this system, as well as market control to ensure the safety of bottled drinking water, The water distribution chain for the necessary tests, to ensure that they meet the requirements of this system.
