The ship Alan Kurdi owned by the German NGO Sea Eye is traveling to Malta after the Italian government rejected the request of the ship's captain to land in Lampedusa. Yesterday the Sea Eye saved 40 migrants on a rubber boat 29 nautical miles off Libya. The migrants were brought on board the ship Alan Kurdi, among them also a pregnant woman and several minors. The people saved come from various countries including Congo, Nigeria, Mali, Ghana and Ivory Coast. This year, Malta has already welcomed over 1,100 migrants.
