05 August 2019The meeting between Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the government with social partners on welfare and work began at Palazzo Chigi. In addition to the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio, the Economy Minister Giovanni Tria, the Minister of Health Giulia Grillo, the Minister for the Family and Disability Alessandra Locatelli, the Deputy Ministers for the Economy Laura Castelli (M5s) and Massimo Garavaglia ( Alloy).

"The first phase of our Government action focused on combating the deep social unease that affected the most vulnerable sections of society, following the economic crisis. Now, with the next economic maneuver, we intend to implement Phase 2 to make a pact for growth and social development ". According to reports, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said, opening the third meeting with the social partners at Palazzo Chigi. The "pact" announced by the premier will be "based on four main pillars: the protection of social security, active labor and training policies, a fiscal and regulatory framework favorable to competitiveness and, finally, support for private and public investments" .

"Wage emergency, significant wedge cut"
"We have to face the wage emergency and also the registry and birth rate. Purchasing power has contracted a lot in these years" and "the tax wedge in favor of workers must be reduced", added Conte.

New round in September
After today's meeting, the new round of social partners on the maneuver will take place in September. According to reports, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said, opening the third meeting with the social partners at Palazzo Chigi. "In a few days the government tables will start on the specific measures to be taken. We must concentrate the ideas and therefore welcome is your contribution", the premier would have said.
