31 July 2019Unemployment in June marks the fourth consecutive decline, falling to 9.7%, down 0.1 percentage points on May. Istat notes this, explaining that it is the lowest rate since January 2012, or seven and a half years. Youth unemployment is also down (15-24 years), which drops to 28.1%, down 1.5 percentage points. In this case it is the lowest rate since April 2011.

As for the employment rate for 15-64 year-olds, it rises to 59.2% (+0.1 percentage points), thus marking a new historical high: the highest level since the statistical series began, or since 1977 .
