“Legally, about 700 thousand drivers work in Russia, while over a million people work in the shadow sector today,” RIA Novosti quotes a member of the PS Elena Sutormina.

According to the government of Moscow in January 2019, more than 40% of drivers of legal taxis in the metropolis are foreign citizens, mainly from the CIS countries.

As noted Sutormina, the inability to check the driver's license of citizens of the CIS leads to a drop in the quality of services and the growth of accidents involving a taxi.

“We will discuss the initiative to create a system of digital profiles for taxi drivers in August at the VII International Eurasian Forum TAXI,” she added.

Earlier, the TV channel "360" reported that in May, about 10 thousand permits from four taxi companies were annulled in the Moscow Region.
