July 28, 2019Thousands of protesters are back in the streets in Hong Kong, many carrying and sheltering under large umbrellas from the rain that sometimes sweeps the city streets (but in this way also sheltering from security cameras), in the aftermath of the new tough battles with the local police. Some are setting up improvised barricades using mobile barriers and occupying streets of the metropolis, according to various direct videos that are transmitted by social profiles linked to the protesters. The tension seems to go back and according to the BBC, some tear gas bombs have been launched from the deployed units. The demonstrations take place on the wool wire: according to some reconstructions the police would have authorized the gathering in the square but not a protest march in procession. But many protesters have marched through the city streets.

The police have lined up around the liaison office with Beijing and face some protesters who show the umbrellas as shields. The financial secretary of the former British protectorate, Paul Chan Mo-po has warned against the economic damages caused by protests that now they have lasted for over a month and a half. If they continue, "the occupation and livelihood of each of us will end up at risk," he warned.
