Al-Jazeera correspondent quoted medical sources in the hospital of the city of Merzak in southwestern Libya, that about 40 people were killed in an air strike launched by a plane belonging to the retired Major General Khalifa Hafter on the city.

A local source said the plane bombed civilians during a wedding, while a member of the House of Representatives in Tripoli Rahma Abu Bakr said that a plane belonging to Hafer launched four successive air raids on a gathering of the people of the city during a wedding.

For his part, a member of the municipal council of the city Mohammed Omar said that a military aircraft belonging to Hafter targeted the residential neighborhood of the citadel inhabited by citizens of the component Altbo, noting that the bombing caused a number of human and material losses without being identified.

The Anatolia news agency quoted Arab media as saying that the bombing targeted a wedding. Hafar's forces did not comment on the news.
