Discussions were held between Germany and the European Commission . Several Member States have finally agreed to take care of the 40 migrants. None will stay in Malta.

" When we were contacted by members of the German government, they were aware that it was not our responsibility, but they asked us to reach an agreement, " said the Maltese Prime Minister.

" Allowing migrants to land is a matter of common sense (...) We have to work with other countries to save lives ," he added.

Portugal is committed to hosting five shipwrecked. According to Lisbon, France, Germany and Luxembourg are among the welcoming states. It is already these countries that appeared last Wednesday for the previous offshore blocking of the boat: the Gregoretti .

Another humanitarian ship, Open Arms , is still looking for a port to land 121 migrants: they were rescued during two separate operations Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd August.
