American rapper A $ AP Rocky has arrived in Los Angeles after being released by a Swedish court pending a verdict on an assault case, US media reported on Saturday.
The 30-year-old artist, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, arrived around midnight Friday night (0700 GMT) aboard a private jet from Stockholm, according to ABC and CBS TV.
"The rapper was thrilled," says TMZ, a site specializing in celebrities, describing a smiling A $ AP Rocky, taking pictures and hugging fans.
"He actually stayed in the private terminal parking for about 45 minutes, talking and joking most of the time," said TMZ.
The New Yorker by birth had refrained from announcing his return to the United States on social networks.
He was arrested and detained on 3 July after a fight on June 30 in Stockholm with a 19-year-old complainant. He was released on Friday pending his judgment on August 14.
The defense has demanded his release, while the prosecution has requested a six-month prison sentence against the artist, who pleads self-defense.
The case took a diplomatic turn. US President Donald Trump has called for the release of A $ AP Rocky in July, drawing back Swedish political critics, accusing him of interference.
