REPORTAGE

The fire in the Gard, which caused the death of a water bomber pilot, is finally under control, but firefighters have not been idle. That night again, they were watching for the slightest spark of fire. In Générac, only one house was damaged by the incident, that of Yves Thomas, 75, whom Europe 1 met.

The roof of the farmhouse completely collapsed, the cars parked below burned down, the bicycles barely repaired completely melted ... in short, the big building, built in the middle of the scrubland, there is practically nothing left. This bull breeder lost everything in a few hours. Saturday, he could only see the damage.

"There is nothing left, all cremated," he laments to Europe 1, including the beams bent by the heat. Arriving on site Friday, he saw the bungalows rented in the summer to tourists surrounded by flames. "With canes that I cut in the way, I stopped the fire, and that one I saved it," he reports.

The fear of the pyromaniac

A few hundred yards away, Sylvette managed to save her eight horses, trapped. Now she fears new fires, while the authorities have evoked a criminal track. "The person in charge can continue, put the fire a little farther", she is alarmed. "We must try to find him and condemn him."

The investigations are continuing. In particular, the experts carried out tests on the fire departures to be able to identify the culprit (s). Two people arrested Friday in this case were released Saturday, said for his part the public prosecutor of Nimes.
