The Ukrainian party “The Servant of the People”, supporting President Vladimir Zelensky, won 43.16% of the votes in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada. This was stated by the head of the country's CEC Tatyana Slipachuk during the summing up of official voting results.

In addition to the “Servant of the People”, four more parties went to parliament - “The Opposition Platform - For Life” (13.05%), “Batkivshchyna” (8.18%), “European Solidarity” (in the past, “Petro Poroshenko Bloc”, gained 8.1%), and Golos (5.82%).

“The number of deputy mandates received by a political party ... is: political party“ Servant of the People ”- 124,“ Opposition Platform - For Life ”- 37, Party“ Batkivschyna ”- 24,“ European Solidarity ”- 23, Party“ Golos ” - 17, ”RIA Novosti quotes the words Slipachuk.

Recall, the elections to the Parliament of Ukraine took place on July 21. There is a mixed system in the country - out of 450 deputy chairs, half are elected by party lists, the rest are for single-mandate majoritarian constituencies, where one particular candidate wins. Due to the reunification of the Crimea with Russia in 2014 and the conflict in the east of Ukraine, the number of single-mandate deputies is 26 people lower - 199 instead of 225.

The election results in majoritarian districts have not been finalized yet - by Saturday, August 3, out of 199 candidates, the CEC recognized 191 elected members. At the same time, according to the results of the voting, representatives of the “Servant of the People” party won in 130 districts.

Parliamentary majority

If the CEC confirms the victory of the eight remaining single-mandate candidates, the “Servant of the People” party will take 254 seats in the Verkhovna Rada of actual 424. Thus, Vladimir Zelensky and his supporters will have the opportunity to form a government that will not have representatives of opposition parties. This will be the first such case in the history of the country, noted the ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk.

“This is the first time in the history of Ukraine, not a single party has yet come to power, having full power. But Zelensky came in a period of such complex and ambiguous processes. Whether he can do it depends on his environment, and whether he will be so brave, ”he said on the Ukrainian TV channel NewsOne.

According to Zelensky, this alignment in the Rada will allow him to implement the bills in priority areas - “ending the war, returning our prisoners and defeating the corruption that still remains in Ukraine.”

The current situation will show whether Zelensky is set to implement his promises in practice or not, says Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Council on Interethnic Relations under the President of Russia.

“Now it will be very difficult for him to give up his campaign promises, since he has all the tools in order to at least try to fulfill these promises,” he told RT. “In this situation, we will see whether Zelensky is able and willing to make any significant changes, or will be limited to imitation, play Goloborodko (Zelensky played the President of Ukraine in the Servant of the People series. - RT ).”

At the same time, such full power also implies appropriate responsibility for decision-making, political scientist and economist Alexander Dudchak recalled.

“I’m not sure that they themselves are delighted with this, judging by how else during the counting of votes they were not sure that they are taking the majority. Recall how Zelensky hurried with the proposal (to create a coalition. - RT ) of the Voice party. Perhaps there was a thought to share responsibility. Now we have the full power, and with it the responsibility for the decisions taken to take this political force, ”he said in an interview with RT.

"Tired of politics Poroshenko"

At the same time, the low results of the party of the ex-president Petro Poroshenko and the growing popularity of the “Opposition Platform - For Life” speak about the population’s tiredness of the policies pursued in the last five years, Bepalko is convinced.

“The population was fed up with Poroshenko’s policy — an eternal civil war, militarization, economic recession, continuing all the time, and anti-Russian hysteria. The fact that Poroshenko received such a low result suggests that during his presidency he turned the population against himself - with all these statements, the lack of a positive agenda, and the failure to fulfill his election promises, ”the expert emphasized.

Thus, the “Opposition Platform - For Life” in the Verkhovna Rada of the past, the eighth convocation, had 39 deputy chairs. According to preliminary calculations, the party now claims 43 seats. And “Poroshenko’s Bloc” in the VIII convocation had 107 deputy chairs, while in the new convocation, being called “European solidarity”, it will receive only 25.

At the same time, the leaders of the Opposition Platform - For Life, Yuriy Boyko and Viktor Medvedchuk, repeatedly visited Russia for talks with representatives of the country's leadership. The party has repeatedly noted the need for cooperation with Moscow and the restoration of bilateral relations.

Medvedchuk also participated in the negotiations on the return of prisoners from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics. So, in late June, the parties managed to agree on the unilateral extradition of four convicted servicemen to Ukraine.
