The municipal elections in Paris, which will take place next March, still cause turmoil within The Republic on the move. It was thought that the situation would calm down after the designation on July 10 of Benjamin Griveaux, after several months of tough competition internally. But Cédric Villani, unfortunate candidate, does not disarm and could come anyway. The Prime Minister had to intervene.

Benjamin Griveaux and Cédric Villani may have had a drink together last week, the tension between the two men has not fallen. The mathematician has still not digested to have been dismissed by the leadership of The Republic in motion.

Not only does he not intend to support the former government spokesman, he is even considering launching himself without a label. In recent times, he sees people. He discusses with other contenders for mayor of Paris, but also with representatives of the Modem, the party Republicans, and even with the environmentalists. The boss of Europe-Ecology-the Greens, however, discards any idea of rapprochement. " We're not going to lose energy in Gothic montages ," explains David Cormand.

However, this agitation is a concern for the executive. Especially since the campaign of Benjamin Griveaux started badly, between gaffes and communication errors. Édouard Philippe had to intervene. At the end of July, he received Cédric Villani and Benjamin Griveaux separately. Objective: restore calm and allow time for him to prove that he can bring down Anne Hidalgo. If this is not the case, some warn: the prime minister, himself, could come to Paris.
