A fire in a house in Saint-Benoît, a commune on the east of Reunion Island, caused the death of four people, including two children, early Friday, AFP told the gendarmerie.
The origin of the fire still unknown
The fire, whose origin is still unknown, began around 4 am local time (2 hours in Paris), killing four people: a 44-year-old mother, two of her two sons aged 4 and 8, and their 70-year-old grandmother, according to the same source. Only the eldest son aged 9, was able to escape the flames and take refuge with his uncle residing nearby. The father was away from home for professional reasons at the time of the tragedy, the gendarmes said.
