Politico: US introduced new sanctions against Russia in the case of Skripale

US President Donald Trump signed a decree introducing a second package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the Skripale case. It is reported by Politico, citing sources.



It is noted that the first package of restrictive measures in the framework of the law on the control of chemical and biological weapons of 1991, the American leader introduced last year.

Earlier, Elliot Engel, chairman of the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Republican Congressman Michael McCall called on Trump to introduce new sanctions against Russia because of the situation around the poisoning of ex-GRU officer Sergei Skrypal.

In May, it was reported that the United States prepared a second package of sanctions against Russia in connection with the case of Skripale.

The first package was introduced in August 2018 and provided for restrictions, mainly related to the sale of weapons and dual-use products.
