It has been months since Henri Konan Bédié called for the creation of this coalition of opposition political parties to face the RHDP of President Alassane Ouattara, with the October 2020 presidential election in the line of fire. This Friday, August 2 on the RFI antenna, the former Ivorian head of state argued that this platform should include the FPI Laurent Gbagbo and former Speaker of the National Assembly Guillaume Soro. But nothing is signed yet.

Within each party and political opposition movement, one insists on one point: the platform so much desired by the PDCI of Henri Konan Bédié will not be an ideological coalition, but a means of mutualizing the actions of each one. With a common goal: to bend the regime of President Alassane Ouattara for the organization of credible and transparent elections for the presidential election of 2020.

Among the supporters of Guillaume Soro, it is confirmed that the former president of the National Assembly has already agreed in principle to integrate the platform. Some relatives of the former rebel leader even believe that the document endorsing the creation of the new body was signed this week. But no official announcement as Guillaume Soro, currently seeking support abroad, is not back home.

Following his visit to Brussels, Henri Konan Bédié also invited Laurent Gbagbo and his family to join the initiative . On this point, the maneuver looks harder. The FPI is still split in two and the branch supported by Gbagbo does not recognize the party chairman Pascal Affi N'Guessan, who is also supposed to join the platform. Affi N'Guessan's supporters are ready to rub shoulders with the dissidents, but would like the PDCI to clarify its position vis-à-vis the historical left-wing party.
