Foreign Ministry responded to the new US sanctions in the case of Skripale

2019-08-02T17:54:30.908Z

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented on the new Washington sanctions against Moscow in connection with the case of the poisoning of a former GRU officer, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter, Yulia. Zakharova’s statement has been published on the Foreign Ministry’s website.

According to her, the American side continues to use last year’s staging with Skripale’s poisoning to aggravate relations with Russia.

She noted that sanctions announced by Washington mainly duplicate anti-Russian measures that were introduced in previous years.

Zakharova added that the initiators of the sanctions pressure on Russia "have tried a lot, but nothing happened."

The Foreign Ministry added that the current sanctions will be "72 in a row since 2011". The ministry said that “Washington every time only flaunt its impotence.”

“As we have already noted, the authors of numerous sanction lists now make the main calculation on the propaganda effect, on the constant promotion of the topic of sanctions in the media space,” she said.

Earlier in the US administration announced the introduction of new sanctions against Russia in connection with the case of Skripale.
