Iranian President calls US sanctions against Foreign Minister "childish"

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called the US sanctions against Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif "childish."

The Iranian politician made a speech in which he commented on the decision of the administration of US President Donald Trump to impose personal sanctions on Zarif.

“They began to commit childish acts,” the Associated Press quotes Rouhani.

He noted that the United States constantly declares its intention to negotiate with Iran, "and then impose sanctions on the country's foreign minister."

It is noted that the sanctions will not prevent Zarif from coming to New York for UN affairs.

Earlier, Rouhani stated that sanctions against Zarif show that the United States is “afraid” of the minister.
