“The first two IL-76s flew out to put out the fires. They went to the Evenki district, which is located 507 km north-east of Krasnoyarsk, ”the department said.
The aircraft arrived in Siberia from the Orenburg and Ulyanovsk regions.
Earlier, the first IL-76 aircraft of the military transport aviation of Russia arrived in Krasnoyarsk to extinguish forest fires in the region.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Dmitry Bulgakov also came to the region to coordinate the work of the department.
Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, in an interview with the ANF, noted that the scale of fires in the Far Eastern Siberian zone exceeded the capabilities of the Emergencies Ministry, so the Defense Ministry forces were involved.
