German nutritionist Gabriela Kaufman has warned against the total elimination of carbohydrates available in bread, rice, pasta, sugar, fruits and vegetables for weight loss and fitness.

Carbohydrates are the main source of energy for the body, which derives its energy from the glucose found in carbohydrates. The body, in the absence of it, burns fat to convert it into energy through a tedious and time-consuming process, causing constant fatigue, exhaustion and poor concentration.

The complete elimination of carbohydrates deprives the body of dietary fiber important for digestion, one suffers from digestive problems such as abdominal pain and constipation, while the process of converting fats to energy increase the production of so-called "ketones", which causes the emission of foul odor from the mouth.

Kaufmann stressed the importance of containing the diet and carbohydrate intake moderately, warning of the complete dispensation without consulting the doctor or nutritionist.
