New premium for conversion, higher electricity prices and lower gas prices, but also better management of telephone canvassing ... An overview of what is changing on August 1, 2019.
New, lower conversion premium
Since Thursday, changing your car for a newer and cleaner model may be less profitable than before. The conversion premium, set up to encourage the French to replace an old vehicle with a less polluting vehicle, has indeed been revised downward.

These bonuses, less generous, will now be paid only for the purchase of cleaner vehicles than hitherto. They will also be concentrated primarily on low-income households. The right to the premium is now based on the reference tax income that appears on the tax notice. This leads to the fact that half of the richest households can no longer claim it. To find out if you can claim this new premium, the government has set up a site on which it is possible to make a simulation.
Electricity goes up again
After a record increase of 5.9% on 1 June, the electricity tariff increases again by 1.23% for individuals and 1.10% for businesses. An increase which must notably serve to finance the electricity distribution networks.
Gas once again down
On the other hand, after a first drop of 6.8% on 1 July, the price of gas continues to drop. On average, regulated tariffs will drop by 0.5% as of this Thursday. These new rates are applied to 4.5 million households.
Telephone canvassing better supervised
From this Thursday, the Arcep prohibits the use of numbers beginning with 01 to 05 outside the French borders. Ditto for automated systems whose numbers begin with 06, 07 or 09. This measure is intended to better supervise telephone canvassing. As recalled by Le Figaro , many companies abroad changed their number to increase their response rate. It is no longer possible.
