“Today, eight IL-76s have completed the task, and together with the Emergencies Ministry aviation we managed to put out a fire on the territory of 23 thousand hectares,” RIA Novosti quotes Bulgakov.

He reported that on August 2, at 5:00 am local time (1:00 Moscow time), the next flights of Il-76 planes for extinguishing are scheduled.

“With such a calculation, that tomorrow we have to make 20 aircraft sorties to extinguish the fires,” the deputy minister added.

Earlier it was reported that the first two IL-76 aircraft flew from Krasnoyarsk airport to extinguish wildfires.

Deputy Minister of Defense Dmitry Bulgakov arrived in the region to coordinate the work of the department.

Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, in an interview with the ANF, noted that the scale of fires in the Far Eastern Siberian zone exceeded the capabilities of the Emergencies Ministry, so the Defense Ministry forces were involved.
