“The European Union must accumulate a critical mass of political will. We are talking about the attitude of this or that member country regarding interaction with Russia, ”he said in an interview with the Parliamentary Newspaper.

According to Chizhov, only in this case are there any positive changes in relations between Europe and Russia.

However, in his opinion, this will take some time.

Chizhov noted that at present the relations of the parties are “far from normal”: some joint projects have been frozen, and interaction along parliamentary lines has been suspended.

At the same time, the Russian permanent representative stressed that Europe and Russia are united by numerous ties in the field of economy, culture and trade.

“The European Union is our largest trade and economic partner and source of investment. In turn, Russia remains the largest supplier of energy and a number of other goods in the EU, ”recalled Chizhov.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the desire of some political forces in the EU to demonize Moscow and preserve the abnormal state of bilateral relations.
