The highest incidence of asthma and asthmatic status (diagnosed for the first time in life) of children under 14 years old in 2017 was noted in the Republic of Mari El - 783 cases per 100 thousand children.

Then comes the Chelyabinsk (306.1 cases), Novosibirsk (285.7), Novgorod (283.1) and Tomsk (270.4) regions.

The rate of asthma among children under 14 in 2017 was 127.3 cases per 100 thousand children of the corresponding age.

It is noted that this is less than a year earlier: in 2016 there were 135 cases per 100 thousand children.

The Rospotrebnadzor also reminded that the incidence of children's asthma is attributed by the World Health Organization to the indicators of habitat quality.

The incidence of the entire population of respiratory diseases is associated with air pollution by such harmful substances as formaldehyde, benzo (a) pyrene, ammonia, chlorine, and others, specified in the sanitary department.

Earlier, cities in Russia were named where the highest level of air pollution was recorded.
