Commenting on the information provided by the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, that a quarter of the water in Russia is forged, Shkhagoshev recalled that in September 2017, he proposed to strengthen responsibility for the production of falsified mineral and drinking water.

“We consulted with representatives of associations of water producers, experts to improve legislation in the water sector, held a round table on this topic. In my opinion, for unscrupulous producers of mineral and drinking water should be strengthened responsibility. Regular consumption of poor-quality water has a cumulative effect and damages the health of people, ”said Shkhagoshev.

He added that drinking water is one of the most important products for consumption, the production of which, in his opinion, should be given special attention.

“And, by the way, representatives of the industry, with the participation of which the round table was held, supported the tightening of sanctions for the production of counterfeit products. Understanding the relevance of this problem, we will continue to study it and prepare a bill that will eliminate the forgery of mineral water, ”the deputy concluded.

Earlier, the head of Rostec, Sergey Chemezov, said that a quarter of the drinking water sold in Russia is fake, in some regions of the country this figure is 80% of the production.

According to Chemezov, in order to change the situation in the area in question, it is necessary to proceed with product labeling as soon as possible.
