The minister of the ecological transition Élisabeth Borne called on Monday the transport operators "with the greatest vigilance and mobilization" vis-a-vis the new episode of heat wave which begins in France.

The transport operators are "mobilized to deal with the situation, provide the best possible service and assistance to travelers," according to a statement from the ministry.

On Monday, SNCF activated its plan to cope with periods of intense heat, which includes "enhanced surveillance" of "equipment and infrastructure".

"The impact of the heat wave on the tracks can sometimes be very important, and make difficult the movement of high-speed trains", explains the document, specifying that the SNCF could, by precaution, reduce the speed of the trains to certain places like she did it in June.

This plan also plans to strengthen the supply of the stations with water. "Distributions of water bottles are already in progress in the most affected areas, for example in Bordeaux and Toulouse."

With regard to the road network, motorway concession companies were also called "to distribute bottles of water in the event of toll congestion during the hottest hours" and "to increase the amount of water available on the roads. the service areas ".

Moreover, in Ile-de-France, in case of risk of pollution, "differentiated circulation measures will be applied systematically and without delay". It will be set up as early as Tuesday, according to the Prefecture of Police.

The heat wave, which begins Monday on France, the second in less than a month, will be short but unusually intense, with a historic heat expected Thursday on a country already hit by drought.
