Irishman Shane Lowry won the British Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, to clinch his first win in a major tournament on Sunday at the Portrush course in Northern Ireland.

Alone in the lead on Saturday night with four shots ahead of Tommy Fleetwood, he made one last card of 72 for a total of 269 (15 under par) and six shots ahead of the Englishman. The American Brooks Koepka, N.1 world, is 4th (-6) while the Italian Francesco Molinari, crowned last year, made a nice comeback to finish 11th (-3). Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were eliminated at the "cut" on Friday.
