Météo France has placed twenty-one departments in orange vigilance for the new episode of heat wave expected in France from Monday. The Occitania, New Aquitaine and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions are, for the moment, the only ones concerned.

The second heat wave started on Sunday 21st July. While at 15 o'clock on Sunday, the temperatures were "between 25 and 28 on the northern half and between 27 and 33 on the southern half" according to Météo France, twenty-one departments were placed in orange vigilance . This alert will take effect from 6 am, Monday, July 22, date of the beginning of this second episode of heat wave. These departments are all located in New Aquitaine, Occitania and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

The departments concerned are: Ardèche, Ariège, Aveyron, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Corrèze, Dordogne, Drôme, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Gironde, Isère, Les Landes, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Rhône, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne and Haute-Vienne.

A heat wave that "will save few regions"

Météo France has announced that this episode which will spread towards the north of the country, "will save few regions" but also that the maximum temperatures will gain "a dozen degrees compared to the previous day on the Southwest". As of Tuesday, the minimums will reach between 20 and 25 degrees and between 36 and 40 degrees for the maximums. "It will be necessary to wait for Friday so that the temperatures begin to decline by the Atlantic facade", specifies Meteo France.
