The case of the rape of Russians in the Seychelles
Recall that in February 2019, a court in the Seychelles closed a high-profile case about the rape of Russian tourist Anna Karabash in a five-star hotel.
The incident occurred back in 2017. Karabash was in a press tour at a hotel in the Seychelles. According to her, at night a janitor penetrated her villa, which was armed with a knife.
According to RIA Novosti, the janitor was arrested, then released on bail and again taken into custody, after he, naked, climbed into the house to a local resident. Subsequently, the case held several meetings.
Representatives of the hotel where the incident occurred, argued that the version presented by the Russian woman is not confirmed by the recordings of surveillance cameras. At the same time, Karabash’s defense insisted that the cameras were not represented at all in the court and were allegedly not interrogated by the policeman who had conducted the first interrogation of the suspect, and the first confessions of the abuser had disappeared.
Subsequently, the case was closed due to the absence of corpus delicti at the request of the defense hired for the accused by the hotel owners. According to the PR director of the Six Senses hotel chain, Benchavan Sudikam, the company passed all the evidence and materials to the investigation.
