“We are very concerned that the persecution of journalists abroad, in particular in Ukraine, is acquiring ugly forms of criminal prosecution,” RIA Novosti quoted Moskalkov.

The ombudsman added that the head of RIA Novosti Ukraine, Cyril Vyshinsky, was accused of treason for articles that he did not write.

“As a leader, he provided a platform for other journalists, and what other journalists expressed on his portal is their freedom of opinion, it’s their judgment. You can't judge for this, ”said Moskalkova.

She also called the situation with the criminal proceedings in the case of Vyshinsky trampling freedom of speech.

Earlier Moskalkova told about the threats that came to the judges in the Vyshinsky case.

Vyshinsky was detained on May 15, 2018. He is accused of treason and support of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass.
