Redesigned cars, more resistant tires, limited flight aids or standardization of parts: Formula 1 unveiled the tracks under study for its technical and sporting regulations by 2021 on its website Wednesday.

These revolve around four goals: to imagine single-seaters better designed for the race and more visually stunning, to achieve a more consistent platform and a more economically viable championship.

"In the coming years, F1 will take a much better path ... on which a very good team, the average budget, can cause problems" to the largest, promises Ross Brawn, engineer star of the category become sports director of the promoter Formula One.

To improve the show, F1 must change, agree the negotiating parties: the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Formula One, owned since 2017 by the American group Liberty Media, teams, and since little drivers.

Regarding aerodynamics, rather than creating support with highly worked front and rear fins and numerous appendages on the chassis, the 2021 single-seaters will use the ground effect, comparable to a suction effect under the car.

In this way, when two F1 will follow each other, the second should not be as embarrassed as at present by the turbulence produced by his predecessor.

- Give more room to the pilot -

These new rules will be "very normative", also warns Brawn, so as to avoid a team finds a trick allowing him to crush the competition.

The specifications imposed on the Pirelli tire supplier will also be reviewed. The tires, which will go from 13 to 18 inches, will have to be more resistant to prevent the drivers from attacking at times to preserve them.

It is also proposed that the heating blankets that allow "to mount tires in temperature" before taking the track are prohibited, so that this responsibility is based solely on the driver.

Always to give more place to the pilots, "the suppression of certain aids of piloting (power steering or anti-staggering, note) is evaluated", as well as a limitation at the same time of the data transmitted by the cars to the garages and exchanges with the engineers.

"It has been proposed that the driver plays a much larger role in managing the problems posed by the car, such as overheating and tire degradation, rather than having their race engineers to guide them," says Formula One .

To reduce the gap between the richest stables and the others, the standardization of a number of elements (rims, brakes, radiators or equipment of garages) is under study.

The maneuverability of the teams in the design of the gearboxes could be limited, the hydraulic suspensions prohibited, just like the use of certain "exotic" materials.

- "Fundamentally remodel the F1" -

The wind tunnel tests should also be limited, so as not to penalize the teams with less resources.

The limitation of stable budgets, finally, is still relevant but the salaries of pilots and "a small number of key personnel" would not be included, as the "marketing activities".

The reduction of on-site staff during the GPs and the densification of the weekend format (with for example the opening of the circuit on Friday morning rather than Thursday) are on the table.

On several of these points, studies are being conducted by some teams, who have until September 15 to deliver the results, reveals Formula One.

"The type of circuits that run F1 will also be analyzed", we finally announced, while pilots and fans require more demanding routes, with gravel, grass or barriers closer rather than wide releases, so that mistakes are more severely punished.

This new regulation, "which aims to fundamentally reshape Formula 1", was to be unveiled in June, but it was finally decided to give until October to find an agreement.
