Former Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, who is currently under house arrest in Tokyo, has sued Nissan and Mitsubishi in the Dutch courts over "improper termination" of his contract, reported Le Figaro on Wednesday.

Mr Ghosn criticizes the two Japanese manufacturers the abusive breach of his employment contract as an employee of NMBV, their joint subsidiary based in the Netherlands, and claim up to 15 million euros, according to the newspaper.

NMBV thanked Mr. Ghosn after a meeting of his Board of Directors on March 12, 2019, the same day as the announcement of his next dissolution.

Although Carlos Ghosn resigned from Renault-Nissan BV (RNBV), this was not the case at NMBV, and "the breach of contract would be insufficiently motivated" according to the arguments of his lawyers, reported by Le Figaro.

But for Nissan and Mitsubishi, the contract of Carlos Ghosn could not be valid since it would not have been "submitted to the board of directors of NMBV", according to the daily.

Neither Ghosn's lawyer nor his spokespersons reacted to AFP's solicitations on Wednesday night.

The two manufacturers concerned said, according to the newspaper, want to recover the remunerations paid by NMBV to their former leader, or 7.82 million euros between April and November 2018.

Renault, for its part, announced on June 5 that it was considering proceedings against its former leader after detecting 11 million euros of "suspicious expenses" within RNBV, a joint venture between Renault and Nissan also based in the Netherlands.

Mr Ghosn, indicted in Japan for various malpractices, was not charged with his activities at NMBV.
